  Gout

Gout is believed caused by overproduction of uric acid and /or defect in renal excretion of uric acid, both contributing to an increased the body pool of urate and elevated serum uric acid level.

A growing body of evidence suggests that both high blood levels of uric acid and gout increase the risk of heart disease, including heart attack. The cause isn't clear.

Gout can affect people for all sex and ages, but uncommon happen to children and young adults. Men are more likely than women.

Some individuals with gout have a genetic predisposition, disorder of purine metabolism. Attacking of gout can be triggered by eating foods high in purines or by consuming high levels of alcohol.

Gout can develop in case of other medical condition, such as:

  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Kidney disorders
  • Chronic lead exposure
